John Gilmore
is a founder and board member of the Autism Action Network, a founder of the Long Island Autism Coalition and the New York Vaccine Coalition. In 2005 he guided New York State legislation banning thimerosal in vaccines for children and pregnant women. In 2006 he organized a NY coalition that successfully fought to pass legislation prohibiting insurers from denying certain medical services to people with autism.

In 2008 John directed the public relations campaign that brought worldwide attention to the successful settlement of the Hannah Poling, a vaccine-injury, case. The next year he drafted insurance reform legislation that is currently under consideration by NY requiring insurers to provide the full range of health care services needed by people with autism.

John has been instrumental in organizing statewide efforts to stop extensive budget cuts for special education and early intervention programs, presents at Defeat Autism Now! and Autism One and has testified many times at hearings held by the New York Assembly and Senate and Nassau and Suffolk County Legislatures.

Mr. Gilmore lives with his 10 year old vaccine-injured son, a healthy 12 year old son and his wife Jennifer in Long Beach, NY. He is an assistant professor of politics and media studies at the Art Institute of New York City.
